Ken Schrader will make his 10th start at Dover Downs International Speedway in the NASCAR Busch Series this year driving the No. 15 Oakwood Homes Chevrolet. In nine starts in the Busch Series at the one-mile oval, he has one win, three top-five and four top-10 finishes.
Schrader won his first NASCAR Busch Series race at The Monster Mile in 1989 driving his own car. Dover is also the track where he won his last NASCAR Winston Cup race in 1991.
"Winning a Busch Series race at Dover was special because it was with my own team that ran on a part-time basis," said Schrader. "I don't know why, but Dover has been a real good track for me. It's one mile and kind of like a bull ring. You slam down in the corner, but you are running so fast, it feels like your running a quarter mile. It's important to stay out of trouble early and be in position to race at the end."
Andy Petree Racing is taking the same car to Dover they finished sixth with at Bristol Motor Speedway a few weeks ago. The car ran the June race at Richmond and the season opener at Daytona International Speedway. It was converted to a short track car after that event.
"Our Winston Cup car has always run pretty well at Dover," said Jeff Swann, crew chief of the Oakwood Homes Chevrolet. "We are using notes from the Winston Cup program to set up the Busch Series car at Dover and are looking forward to a good run."
