BUSCH: FMS Racing Debuts at Memphis

FMS Racing is a fan owned race team making their Busch Grand National debut this weekend at Memphis Motorsports Park in the Sam's Town 250. The fledgeling race team tested at the new racing facility earlier this month with Tennessee native Mark Day behind the wheel and several of its shareholders on hand to witness the event.

The test went well according to the teams marketing director, Chris Douglas. "Mark Day was able to get the car up to what we believe will be competitive lap times." Douglas stated. As Day was getting up to speed in the FMS Racing Pontiac, the shareholders in attendance were treated to an extra special surprise. They thought they were just there to watch, but that wasn't the case.

Richard Petty's Driving Experience was also on hand that day at the Memphis track, and offered up some added thrills. Many of the teams new owners got the opportunity to take a few laps around the 3/4 mile oval, along with instructors from the Petty Driving Experience.

Team owner Rhea Fain was very excited with the opportunity that was presented to his race teams investors. "The owners who attended had a great time." Fain said. "The Richard Petty driving school showed up and unloaded two of their cars. They had a Richard Petty car and a Tony Stewart car. Several of the owners got to take two laps apiece. A once in a life time experience."

The excitement of the afternoon could be measured by the comments from the FMS shareholders who strapped on the helmet and into the 5 point harness. Perhaps the most profound response came from owner Wayne Ivey of Lexington, TN. After exiting the race car, he described the experience with one simple word, "WOW." Alan Pratt, also from Lexington, had a little more to say, "I wasn't too worried 'til we got to the turn, then I wondered if the rear end was going to follow the front end!"

Butch Crouse and Janice Jones, from Jackson, TN, both commented that this is why they joined this race team. "Where else can a fan sit in the garage, talk to the driver and get to take laps? This is a fans dream." "It was a really great experience for everybody and was another step for FMS in reaching our goals." Chris Douglas added.
