BUSCH: Kevin Harvick run in Texas race

KEVIN HARVICK TO RUN ...

KEVIN HARVICK TO RUN #29 SONIC CHEVROLET IN TEXAS BUSCH RACE
2001 champion eagerly anticipates his return to the series

(March 8, 2002, Atlanta, Ga.) - Reigning Busch Series Champion Kevin Harvick, Richard Childress Racing and Sonic announced plans today to enter the #29 Sonic Chevrolet in the Busch Series race at Texas Motor Speedway. The April 6 event marks the first race Harvick will run in the series since clinching the championship title in 2001.

"I'm definitely looking forward to racing in the Busch Series again," said Harvick. "We won the race at Texas last year so we have a good history at the track. What will make this race even more exciting is having Sonic on board as the primary sponsor. They continue to be supportive of all my racing plans, whether its in Winston Cup or Busch."

Harvick was the only driver to compete full-time in both series in 2001, running in 35 Winston Cup races and 33 Busch races. Harvick clinched the Busch Series Championship while recording five wins, six poles and 20 top-five finishes.

The #29 Sonic Chevrolet will be red and black and feature the Sonic logo on the hood and rear quarter panel. The deck lid will feature signature Sonic favorites- Cheese Coney, Tater Tots and Cherry Limeade.

"We've been with Kevin since he took over the #29 Cup car last year, and we are extremely proud to be with him as he returns to the Busch Series to defend his win at Texas Motor Speedway," said Dwayne Chambers, vice president of marketing for Sonic. "Texas is a big market for Sonic and we are currently introducing breakfast as a new day part there, so sponsoring the #29 Chevrolet for this race is a perfect fit. We have a lot exciting things planned for fans to celebrate the on-track debut of the #29 Sonic Chevrolet including a chance to race against Kevin in a go-kart."

Sonic is giving four fans the chance to compete in a go-kart race against Harvick at SpeedZone in Dallas. To win, fans need to stop by a participating Sonic location in Dallas/Ft. Worth and enter the drawing.

Sonic joined Richard Childress Racing in 2001. Sonic is an associate sponsor of the #29 Chevrolet driven by Harvick in the Winston Cup Series and #2 Chevrolet driven by Johnny Sauter in the Busch Series.
