BUSCH: Michigan: Mosley, Jo Kirk preview

Brooklyn, MI (Thursday, August 14th, 2003) - - NASCAR Busch Series rookies Jamie Mosley and Tammy Jo Kirk, head to Michigan International Speedway this weekend for the running of the Cabela's 250 on Saturday. MIS (Michigan International Speedway) marks one of the largest tracks that the NASCAR Busch Series competes on, leaving plenty of side by side action, with machines taking turns going two, three, and four wide.

The Jay Robinson Racing team heads to the 2-mile oval looking for improved results after mechanical failures nailed the team in their last event from Indianapolis Raceway Park. Top Thirty finishes were credited for both Tammy Jo Kirk (No. 49), and Jerry Reary (No. 39).

For Kirk, it was her first event behind the wheel of a NASCAR Busch Series machine at a tight short track, and for Reary, he was just proud to have made his NASCAR debut.

"Things did not go as planned at IRP," said Tammy. "There's no doubt about it, we had a fast Ford Taurus, but sometimes you cannot control motor problems."

Kirk continued "However, despite the misfortunate, we were able to gain some valuable seat time and bring the car home in one piece."

Reary, a veteran late model driver out of North Carolina was having a fine run but developed brake problems midway into the event, forcing him to retire his No. 39 Ford Taurus. "It's a shame that we had a brake problem, but that's all a part of racing, and I'm just thankful to Jay Robinson Racing for giving me the opportunity to compete," said Jerry.

Tammy Jo Kirk is excited about returning to racing, after a week's break allowed the Jay Robinson Racing team to prepare her hotrod. "The guys have worked hard in the shop preparing the car for this weekend," said the driver of the No. 49 Advil Liqui-Gels Ford Taurus.

"I think we've got everything to gain this weekend, and Jamie's back with the team, so I'm hoping for some positive results by the end of Saturday afternoon," she added.

Jamie Mosley will return to the driving duties of the No. 39 FANS Motorsports Ford Taurus this weekend at MIS, after the team announced last week, that the Loudon, Kentucky native will pilot the team's second entry for the remainder of the season.

"I'm excited about getting back behind the wheel," stated Mosley. "This is one of the hugest races on the NASCAR Busch Series schedule this weekend, and we're just looking for a good run, and I'm sure if we use patience and stay out of trouble, that's what we'll receive."

Jay Robinson Racing will have a busy weekend, as special guests will be with the team throughout the weekend. Mark Westrick, owner of FANS Motorsports will be on hand this weekend, while representatives on the No. 1 Hit Radio Station in Detroit (Channel 955) will be attending the race this weekend as well.

"We're excited about this weekend," said car owner Jay Robinson. "Mark Westrick is coming up and Chad & Stefanie Mitchell from the MoJo In The Morning Show will be here, so we're expecting a lot of fun in the JRR garage this weekend."

The bid for the NASCAR Busch Series championship continues as the teams head to the "Irish Hills" of Michigan to compete at the 2-mile oval of MIS. Practice and Qualifying are set for Friday, August 15th, 2003 with the running of the Cabela's 250 set for this Saturday, August 16th, 2003 starting at 1:30pm with live coverage on TNT and MRN radio.
