BUSCH: Nashville gets second race

LEBANON, Tenn. -- NASCAR officials today awarded the Nashville Superspeedway with a second NASCAR Busch, Grand National Division race, confirming NASCAR's confidence in Middle Tennessee and the surrounding market place which consistently ranks in the top five for TV/Market shares for NASCAR events.

The new race is scheduled for Saturday, June 8 under the state-of-the-art lighting system.

"We are honored to receive this additional race date and we feel like NASCAR was very impressed with the track, facility, and the inaugural festivities," Nashville Superspeedway Vice President & General Manager Cliff Hawks said. "This is a strong indication that NASCAR is confident that Middle Tennessee race fans will support the new 2002 schedule and any future events that may be awarded."

After last weekend's sold-out inaugural Indy Harrah's 200, the superspeedway's reputation as an outstanding racing facility for drivers and race fans continues to spread. The NASCAR announcement today speaks well for the new facility and race fans in Middle Tennessee.
