Cox Leads Stremme and TRIMSPA X32 Dodge to Top Five Finish

Bethlehem, PA (May 24, 2004) -- Team TRIMSPA driver David Stremme qualified 13th for Saturday's Gould's Pumps ITT Industries 200. From the drop of the green, Stremme steadily climbed through the field, despite a tight handling condition when the TRIMSPA X32 Dodge exited the turns. Stremme had climbed into the eighth position by his first stop under caution at lap 74.

"The TRIMSPA Dodge was not far off in the beginning," said Stremme. "We only had to make a wedge adjustment and an air pressure adjustment during the race to get her dialed in."

On the second green flag run Stremme's car remained tight, but improved as the run progressed. Stremme moved up to the seventh position by the time he entered the pits under caution on lap 148. Team TRIMSPA jumped into action pulling off a crucial four-tire stop in 16.0 seconds, gaining Stremme three positions on pit road and moving him into the fourth spot. Stremme battled with the best in the field for the final 22 laps after the restart to finish fifth. The top-five finish was his third of the season and first since finishing fifth at Darlington Raceway in March.

"This is a great finish for Team TRIMSPA," said Stremme. "We are in the middle of a transition period with our program. I went into this weekend knowing that the guys were literally working 24 hours a day at the shop to get our cars the way Randy (Cox) wanted them. A top-10 finish would have felt like a victory for our team, considering where we are in this process. But a top five is just awesome. I am also happy for our sponsor TRIMSPA. This is their home track. We received a ton of support and hospitality from them this week. It feels great to return that favor."

Stremme and Team TRIMSPA have climbed up into 17th position in the points standings and will look to continue that climb this weekend when the Busch Series makes its homecoming at Lowe's Motor Speedway for the Carquest Auto Parts 300. The race will be televised live Saturday, May 29th at 12:30 p.m. eastern time on FX and will broadcast nationally at that same time on radio stations affiliated with Motor Racing Network (MRN) and XM Satellite Radio Channel 144.
