BUSCH: Newman dominates to win Dover 200

Ryan Newman led 193 of 200 laps to capture the win at today's Dover 200 Busch Series race at the Dover International Speedway. Newman started from the pole and avoided two multi-car crashes to grab his fourth Busch series win this season.

"This was a blast to drive," said Newman. "We are always so good here for whatever reason. We always seem to be fast here. I am happy to be here and be that fast."

This was Newman's fourth consecutive win in the Busch series tying the record set by Sam Ard in 1983.

"That's pretty cool," Newman said. "I think we learned some stuff today for tomorrow. Staying out of the wrecks is a big thing, and you do that by starting upfront and we have taken care of that."

Newman starts on the pole for tomorrow's Cup race.

Clint Bowyer was second. Bowyer earned his 10th top-5 finish of the year.

"The car was good all day long, all weekend really," said Bowyer. "I hate to gain points like that, but the way our year has been we will take them where we can get them."

Jason Leffler, Reed Sorenson and Greg Biffle complete the top five.

"It was a great run," said Biffle. "The guys did a great job in the pits. The guys did a fantastic job.good run for us I am really excited about it. I learned a lot today.a good warm-up for tomorrow I think."

Pole sitter Newman led the field to the green flag but it didn't last long. Thirteen cars got tangled up collecting Johnny Sauter, Kevin Hamlin, Kyle Busch, Paul Menard, David Green, Matt Kenseth, Jeff Burton, Mark Green, Randy Lajoie, Jon Wood, Tim Sauter, Michael Waltrip and Donnie Neunenberger whose No. 52 car was airborne momentarily.

"Golly, I have no idea," said Burton when asked about what happened. "Something happened upfront, a car got sideways and turned around.just racing, one of those things that happen."

NASCAR was forced to issue a red flag for track clean-up that lasted nineteen minutes. Newman continued t lead on the restart on lap seven but the multi-car accidents just kept coming. Justin Labonte got into the back of Erin Crocker taking Joel Kauffman, Mike Wallace and Kyle Busch with them.

"I got a run up under her (Crocker)," said Labonte. "I thought her spotter knew I was there, I guess not."

The field went green again on lap 23, as Newman continued to lead. The field settled down for a stretch of caution-less racing that forced the leaders to make green flag pit stops beginning on lap 96.

Newman remained on top through the day's third caution on lap 122 and the ensuing pit stops. Truex tried several times to challenge Newman for the lead throughout the event, but lapped traffic prevented Truex from making a late race charge on the No. 39 Dodge.

Then with four laps to go, Truex cut a tire on the No. 8 Chevy forcing him to pit under green. He managed to retain his spot at the front of series standings. Clint Bowyer (-26), Reed Sorenson (-258), Carl Edwards (-330) and Denny Hamlin (-567) complete the top five.

There were three cautions for 21 laps and eight lead changes among six drivers.
