BUSCH: No. 10 Nestle Nesquik Ford driver announced

(Mooresville, NC) Scott Riggs, current points leader on the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, has signed on as the new driver for ppc Racing and the No. 10 Nestlé Nesquik Ford Taurus for the 2002-2003 NASCAR Busch Series seasons. The driver's seat was vacated when Jeff Green announced earlier this month he was moving to the Winston Cup Series to drive full-time for Richard Childress Racing starting in 2002.

Greg Pollex, co-owner of ppc Racing, felt Riggs was a great fit to fill the missing element of their program.

"When we found out Jeff was leaving, we put together a list of what we were looking for in a driver," said Pollex. "We wanted someone with the ability and all out will to win, a driver who had a good understanding of the chassis and aerodynamics packages, and who would have the right chemistry with the team and the crew chief, Harold Holly. In addition, it was important that our driver be a good representative of Nestle, our primary sponsor. For all parties involved, Scott was the unanimous choice."

Crew Chief, Harold Holly, will remain at the helm of the Nesquik Racing team and all team members will remain intact for the 2002 season. Riggs was the number one choice of Holly, considered one of the best crew chiefs in NASCAR. "When Scott and I met for the first time, I could tell the chemistry was there between us," said Holly. "It is the same feeling I had the first time I met Jeff Green in 1994. I haven't had that feeling about any other driver but Jeff until I met Scott. I knew then, he was the only option for our Nesquik team. You've got to have the desire to win to be successful in this business and Scott has more of that than any driver I've met since Jeff.

"Scott's demeanor and driving style matches with our team chemistry. Our team is all about being aggressive and winning races and I saw those qualities in Scott. I've been watching him all year in the truck series and scanning his radio. I feel he and I will be able to communicate instantly about how the car is handling and how to make it better. I feel confident we will be able to win right off the bat."

Riggs is excited to join an established team with a long history of success.

"I feel so fortunate to have this opportunity," said Riggs. "Drivers dream of becoming associated with a team that are proven winners. How could I turn down the chance to work with the reigning championship team? This organization finished first and second in the points last year and I wanted to be with a team at the top of their game. They have so much drive and determination and I believe I can keep the momentum moving forward and put the No. 10 Nesquik Ford up front and in victory lane many times over the next few years."

Nestlé USA will also return as primary sponsor with their Nestlé Nesquik brand for the 2002-2003 seasons. They were big supporters of Scott Riggs being named as the new driver and are thrilled to have him as a spokesperson for their organization.
