Miller Has a Career Day at Pikes Peak

FOUNTAIN, Colo. (July 24) -- REESE'S Racing driver Brandon Miller had many career firsts on Saturday at Pikes Peak International Raceway, but his first top-10 finish as a NASCAR Busch Series driver was the most notable.

"The REESE'S Chevy was really good all day," Miller said. "We were a little loose at the beginning of the race, but we made a few adjustments, and the REESE'S Chevy seemed to really take to the adjustments. I am really proud of how hard the REESE'S team worked all weekend. I feel like a monkey is finally lifted off my back, and I hope for another good finish in St. Louis."

Miller, a native of San Diego, started the race in the 21st spot. At the drop of the green flag, Miller was on the move and was in the top-15 within 20 laps.

On lap 24 of 250, the first caution flag was issued. Miller and the REESE'S Racing team took advantage of the early caution laps and made minor adjustments to the REESE'S Chevrolet to help its performance. The REESE'S Chevy reacted well to the adjustments, and the REESE'S team would not have to adjust the REESE'S Chevy for the remainder of the race.

After the pit stop, Miller returned to the track in the 15th spot. The REESE'S Chevy was almost perfect after the adjustments, and by lap 80, he was in the 10th spot. The REESE'S Racing pit crew also helped Miller gain valuable track position. On lap 159 of 250, Miller brought the REESE'S Chevy to the attention of his crew for its third stop of the day. Miller came down pit road in the seventh position, but with the hard work of the crew, Miller returned to the track in sixth place.

On lap 211, Miller showed his growing maturity on the track when Johnny Sauter collided with the back end of the REESE'S Chevy. Miller was able to move up the race track and keep the REESE'S Chevy from hitting the wall. Miller lost five spots but was able to recover and finish in the 10th spot.

David Green won his first Busch Series Race since Oct. 2003, followed by Clint Bowyer, Kenny Wallace, Martin Truex Jr. and J.J. Yeley, respectively. Bowyer is ranked second in the driver standings, 122 points behind Truex.

The REESE'S team remains fourth in the team standings, 258 behind Truex's team.

Miller and the REESE'S Racing team will be back in action Saturday, July 30, at Gateway International Raceway in St. Louis. The race begins at 8 p.m. EDT on the TNT television network and MRN radio network.
