CONCORD, NC (October 28, 2002) -- Ashton Lewis, Jr. and the No. 46 Civil Air Patrol Chevrolet team are anxiously awaiting the Sam's Town 200 at North Carolina Speedway.

The team is looking forward to a strong performance, and a top ten finish. Lewis finished ninth last weekend in Atlanta, his first top ten since his ninth place finish at Pike's Peak at the end of July. The team feels that they "got the monkey off of their back," and look forward to strong finishes at the remaining three races of the season.

Rockingham will be the final short track race of the season, and Lewis is ready.

"We had a really good car there earlier this year, probably a car that was capable of winning the race on equal tires. We kind of got out of (pit stop) sequence, and there at the end of the race we probably had 25 more laps on our tires than anyone else. We still finished eighth, so we are really looking forward to going back there and improving that performance," Lewis said.

The race will be aired live starting at 12:30 pm ET on both TNT and MRN. Qualifying for the race will take place November 1 at 1:30 pm ET.

Civil Air Patrol, the official Air Force Auxiliary, is a nonprofit organization with over 61,000 members nationwide. It performs more than 85% of inland search and rescue missions tasked by the Air Force Rescue Coordination Center in the continental United States. Volunteers also take a leading role in aerospace education and serve as mentors to the over 25,000 young people currently participating in CAP cadet programs.
