THOUSANDS OF SCOUTS SCRAMBLE FOR FREE SEATS AT COCA-COLA 300

FORT WORTH-DALLAS (Feb. 25, 1999) - Thousands of Boy and Girl Scouts will have a free ticket to the March 27 Coca-Cola 300 NASCAR Busch Series race at Texas Motor Speedway. In the second year of the Coca-Cola Scouts Day program, more than 7,500 Scouts, their siblings and troop leaders will be taking advantage of the special offer. This year's Coca-Cola 300 will feature Winston Cup champ Jeff Gordon and other Winston Cup drivers taking on 1998 Busch Series champion Dale Earnhardt, Jr.

"We're pleased to have this sort of response from the Boy and Girl Scouts," said speedway general manager Eddie Gossage. "These young people are the perfect example of how motorsports continues to reach out to so many new fans. These kids are excited about coming to the Coca-Cola 300 and we're happy have them."

Troops from all over Texas submitted requests for the special offer. The free tickets are provided to Scouts and troop leaders -- specially priced tickets were available to other adults and siblings attending with the Scouts. The special offer is not available to walk-ups on race day.

"The deadline for ordering the Scout tickets was Feb. 15," said speedway ticket director John Schriever. "We really had a real crush of requests that week. It's great to see so many taking part in the program this year."
