Alex Garcia; Transnet Racing Head To Watkins Glen With Unfinished Business

WATKINS GLEN, New York (Thursday, August 9, 2007) - - Transnet Racing, a new team to the NASCAR Busch Series proved to the rest of the circuit last week in Montreal they can compete with the best-of-the-best. Unfortunately, an engine failure just 18 laps into the event forced driver Alex Garcia and his rookie team to watch the remainder of the race from the sidelines.

With the series heading to Watkins Glen International this week, Transnet Racing opted not to return to their operations in Atlanta, Georgia but hover up north and work on their No. 98 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS to prepare to make their third start of the 2007 season in Saturday's Zippo 200 at The Glen.

Transnet Racing, headed by crew chief Danny Gill have replaced the damaged engine and are revving to go in the 24th installment of the 2007 NASCAR Busch Series schedule.

"What happened last weekend was really unfortunate," said Alex Garcia, the first Venezuelan driver to compete in the NASCAR Busch Series. "The light at the end of the tunnel is that we were able to overcome the obstacles we faced leading up to the race. We made exceptional gains during the race, but we weren't able to seal the deal, hopefully this weekend at Watkins Glen everything will play into our hands and we can bring home a good finish."

Transnet Racing also accredits the addition of crew chief Danny Gill for the turnaround performance of the No. 98 team.

"We've been able to bring Danny in and he has been able to show us a lot of great things," added Garcia. "He has been instrumental in the success of the team at the shop and at the racetrack. Montreal was his first race with us and even though we had our fair share of hiccups, I am very please about the performance of the entire team and we are looking forward to backing it up this weekend in Watkins Glen."

Speaking of Watkins Glen, Garcia has never competed at the 2.45 mile road course, but the Georgia resident is banking on his past road racing experience in the TOYOTA Atlantic Championship Series to potentially reel in the team's first top-10 run.

"I enjoy competing on the road course races in the NASCAR Busch Series," offered Garcia. "I'm fortunate enough where I have some prior road racing knowledge and I feel that has helped me tremendously as I've made the transition to stock cars."

Garcia continued, "Our goal this weekend at Watkins Glen is to record as much practice time as we possibly can. I would like to think that we can qualify solidly in the top-20 and be in contention during the race. We were able to steadily work our way through the pack last weekend in Montreal, I know we can do that again this weekend."
