BUSCH: Wimmer gets second career win at Memphis

Scott Wimmer held off hard chargers Stacy Compton and Jamie McMurray to take his second Busch Grand National win of his career. Wimmer, who first won at Dover in September, broke away from the pack with three laps to go and remained unchallenged to the checkered flag. "We came in about 20 laps earlier than everyone else and Booty made the call on that one," Wimmer said. "These tires are so good you can go awhile on them and you don't need tires to win races anymore. This track just doesn't eat them up. It was a great call, I don't know if I would have called it like that. That's why I'm a driver and not a crew chief." Wimmer led five times for 93 laps Compton finished second, and last weeks Winston Cup winner at Charlotte, McMurray finished 3rd. Rounding out the top five, were Hank Parker, Jr. in fourth and Kerry Earnhardt in fifth.

Point's leader Greg Biffle, who started on the pole in Memphis and led the most laps, made contact with the lapped car of Lowell Bennett at lap 202. Biffle would hit the wall, ending his day early, and finishing 34th. Biffle looses some ground in his lead over Jason Keller (who finished tenth); the championship gap between them is now 105 points. Biffle dramatically stood on top of his burning #60 car looking for the culprit of his misfortune. "I really didn't see what happened," Biffle said. "Maybe I didn't give that lap car enough room on the bottom. But, it looked like I was going to be clear of him with the run I had on the straightaway heading into the corner. You certainly don't want to go into a corner side-by-side here. I really need to watch the replay to see what happened. Maybe I did cut down on him, but I thought he would give me a little room than that, too." Biffle, whose team and sponsor move to Winston Cup next year, will attempt to qualify for the Atlanta Cup race next weekend.

Coy Gibbs was black flagged by NASCAR for a rough driving incident with Jack Sprague. Gibbs hit Sprague under caution, and was immediately removed from the field by NASCAR and ordered to report to the big blue trailer.

Rounding out the top ten were Tim Sauter (6), Ron Hornaday (7), Jay Sauter (8), and David Green (9).
