Mears, who most recently competed in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series with Germain Racing, will compete in at least 12 races with Biagi-DenBeste this year in the No. 98 Ford with sponsorship from GEICO.

The partnership reunites a sponsor and team who previously experienced success together in the Xfinity Series from 2002 to 2006. Biagi-DenBeste Racing handed GEICO their first NASCAR win on July 2, 2004, at Daytona International Speedway with driver Mike Wallace.

Mears’ first race with the team will be March 26 at Auto Club Speedway in California.

“I'm thankful for GEICO's continued support and I'm happy we were able to get this deal put together with Biagi-DenBeste Racing," Mears said in a statement. "Fred Biagi and Bill and Lori DenBeste are great people and I've always respected them and how committed they've been to NASCAR and building their team over the years.

“I'm honored to be able to drive the No. 98 GEICO Military Ford and pay tribute to our military and their families. GEICO does a terrific job of supporting the military and I appreciate the opportunity to play a small role in honoring our service members.”

Owner Fred Biagi said he looks forward to working with Mears.

“I've always had a lot of respect for Casey and his family and it excites me to have him in our race car,” he said. “I believe this new partnership will not only help us improve our race program, but also result in elevated awareness and generate the interest of potential sponsors."

In 93 career Xfinity starts, Mears has one win (Chicagoland, 2006), 16 top-five and 32 top-10 finishes and won four poles. He’s made 488 Cup series starts, with his lone victory coming in the 2007 Coca-Cola 600 while driving for Hendrick Motorsports.
