Jeffrey Earnhardt will continue to sub for Jamie Dick in the No. 55 Viva Auto Group Chevy in the XFINITY Series race at Bristol Motor Speedway this weekend.

Dick, 26, remains sidelined after being diagnosed with onset diabetes following the NXS race at Phoenix International Raceway on March 14. He has yet to be medically cleared by NASCAR.

I'm sorry that Jamie has to sit out, but I am grateful that he called on me to fill in.

"I'm sorry that Jamie has to sit out, but I am grateful that he called on me to fill in,” Earnhardt said. “The Viva Motorsports team has given me great cars all year.  I hope to go to Bristol and make Jamie, the team, and Viva Auto Group proud."

Earnhardt has three starts with Viva Motorsports in 2015. His best finish was 16th in the season opener at Daytona. He was 17th in the NXS point standings but missed the races at Las Vegas and Phoenix. When he returned to action at Fontana, Earnhardt led three laps before finishing 28th. Earnhardt’s career-high finish in the NXS was at Bristol last August where he finished 12th.

Dick has 57 NXS career starts since making his debut on the tour in 2011. He competed in two races this year. Dick finished 24th at Las Vegas and 28th at Phoenix before he was taken to the infield care center.

I feel great and ready to go, but in this type of scenario, I have to listen to my doctors and not risk my health.

"I have been anxious to get back in the racecar,” Dick said. “I feel great and ready to go, but in this type of scenario, I have to listen to my doctors and not risk my health.

"We are getting close to being medically cleared.  I am sure that the next time my turn to drive the No. 55 car comes around, I will be good to go."
