Warsaw, Ind. - Based in Indiana, ML Motorsports has signed an Indiana driver to pilot the No. 70 Chevrolet for the rest of the 2009 NASCAR Nationwide Series season.

ML Motorsports parted ways with driver Mark Green earlier this week and will put 23-year-old Greenwood, Ind., native driver Shelby Howard behind the wheel of Mary Louise Miller's Biomet/Foretravel Motorcoach ride beginning April 4 at Texas Motor Speedway.

"Mark Green did a good job for us and helped us develop our program," Miller said. "We're a small team and Mark provided much experience. Shelby Howard is someone we have looked at for some time and we felt that now is a good time to start working together. We're looking forward to having an Indiana driver on our team."

Green and Team 70 attempted to qualify for two races this season. He qualified 31st and finished 18th in the season-opener at Daytona, but failed to qualify for the Scott's Turf Builder 300 at Bristol.

In Howard, ML Motorsports is getting a driver they are familiar with having competed against one another in the ARCA RE/MAX Series.

"Shelby is an Indiana kid, and we know him very well from our days in ARCA," said Tony Barnes, the team manager. "We tried to put something together with him before, it just never worked out. We're very excited about this, and we're glad to have Shelby in our car."

Howard will be teamed up with crew chief Brian Ross.

Though they are separated by 20 years, Ross and Howard raced against each other in the USAR Hooters Pro Cup Series Northern Division. "He's raced quite a long time for his age," said Ross. "I used to race against him in the Kendall Late Model Series and the Hooters Pro Cup. He's quite a racer. Shelby is the kind of driver that will take care of the equipment; I don't think we'll have a problem with him tearing things up. At the same time, though, he's aggressive when he needs to be. He races smart and he'll race you clean. I'm looking forward to going racing with him."

Howard began racing in 1996, and in 2001 at age 15 he became the youngest driver to compete in the ARCA RE/MAX Series. Howard won his first ARCA race in 2003, becoming the youngest driver in the series to ever win. Howard made his first NASCAR Nationwide Series start in 2003, finishing 20th at Kansas Speedway. Since then Howard has driven in multiple series, including the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series for Bill Davis Racing and in the USAR Hooters Pro Cup Series for Tony Stewart.
