Reddick to replace Byron at JR Motorsports in 2018

The 21-year-old Corning, California native will take over for William Byron next season at JR Motorsports. Reddick, who currently competes part-time for Chip Ganassi Racing in the No. 42 Xfinity Series ride, joins veterans Elliott Sadler and Justin Allgaier at the Dale Earnhardt Jr.-owned operation.

“Tyler is a very talented race car driver and someone we’ve enjoyed watching over the years,” JRM GM Kelley Earnhardt Miller said in the release. “We’ve seen him make a lot of strides in the short time he’s been in the Xfinity Series.

“He’s a strong complement to our driver lineup next season, and we’re confident that with consistent seat time he’ll find additional success at this level.”

In 14 starts this season, Reddick’s best result was a third-place finish at Iowa Speedway. He scored top-10 finishes at both Charlotte Motor Speedway and Kentucky Speedway.

Reddick cut his teeth in open-wheel racing. He moved to the Midwest in 2008 as a 12-year-old searching for the best opportunity to gain seat time. After rising through the ranks in mini sprints, midgets, sprints, dirt late models and the World of Outlaws, Reddick tested the ARCA and the K&N Pro Series East Series. At 16, he won at Rockingham in his first KNPSE start.

Reddick blossomed with Brad Keselowski Racing in the Camping World Truck Series. After a limited schedule in 2014, Reddick came back the following season and won two races before finishing second in the standings. He won his third-career truck race in 2016 prior to joining CGR this season to share driving duties with Kyle Larson.
