Stenhouse Jr. Honored in Hometown Celebration
OLIVE BRANCH, Miss. (Aug. 19, 2010) -- Before heading to Bristol Motor Speedway for Friday's race, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. made a pit stop back home in Olive Branch, Mississippi. The NASCAR Nationwide Series driver was honored this week in his hometown. After several autograph signings, appearances around town and multiple media stops, the highlight came when Stenhouse was recognized by the Mayor of Olive Branch. Sam Rikard proclaimed Wednesday, August 18, 2010 as Ricky Stenhouse Jr. day.
"It's an honor to be recognized in my hometown," said a smiling Ricky Stenhouse Jr. "To have the support of all the people in Olive Branch is amazing. I will always remember this day and I hope to be able to come back here as much as I can. Having the Mayor on hand was awesome and to have the DeSoto Central High School football team give me a No. 6 jersey was quite a surprise."
Stenhouse continued, "CitiFinancial was a huge part of making this day happen and I am thankful for having such a great sponsor. There are a lot of people that made this week special and I want to say thank you to everyone. We've got an Olive Branch decal on the car in Bristol this weekend, so I can't wait to get back on the track and race hard for everyone in my hometown."
