Gonzalez to Race Nationwide Series at Phoenix and Road America; Puerto Rican to pilot #05 Ford

Nashville, TN (March 31, 2010) ... Victor Gonzalez Jr. will return to the NASCAR Nationwide Series to compete in the Bashas' Supermarkets 200 on April 9th at Phoenix International Raceway and the Bucyrus 200 on June 19th at Road America. Gonzalez will drive the #05 Day Racing Ford in both events.

Gonzalez Jr. made history on August 30, 2009 at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal, Quebec Canada when he became the first Puerto Rican driver to compete in the NASCAR Nationwide Series. The Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico competitor finished 14th at Montreal, a race that featured heavy rain and slick track conditions.

"I'm excited about having the opportunity to race in the Nationwide Series events at Phoenix and Road America," Gonzalez stated. "My first Nationwide race last year at Montreal was a very challenging one with all the rain and tough conditions. I know that both Phoenix and Road America will be very competitive too. I'm looking forward to representing the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico in both of these races."

Gonzalez is known as a road course ace throughout Puerto Rico with over 30 wins to his credit. He has dedicated most of his professional career representing Puerto Rico internationally, and is the only instructor at the world-renown Skip Barber Racing School to hail from Puerto Rico.

"Phoenix is a fun, yet challenging track. Road America is a new track for the Nationwide Series this year however, I have raced there numerous times over the years. I'm especially looking forward to the inaugural event there", Gonzalez Jr added.

Prior to competing in the NASCAR Nationwide Series, Gonzalez has raced Late Model Stock Cars, competed in the CART Toyota Atlantic Championship, Barber Dodge Pro Series, North American Touring Car Championship Series, and driven GTS and Grand Am GT Cars during his professional racing career.
