HAMPTON, Ga. (Jan. 10, 2007) -- Atlanta Motor Speedway will be busier than ever in 2007 with several new large events in addition to an already full schedule.

Highlighting the 2007 event schedule is the return of two NEXTEL Cup races in March and October as well as several first-time events at AMS. Below is a schedule of the major events taking place this year.

2007 Atlanta Motor Speedway Events

March 16: Georgia Power Qualifying Night -- Watch NASCAR NEXTEL Cup's finest as they streak around the fastest track on the circuit under the lights. Speeds -- and the excitement -- will be ratcheted up a notch when the sun goes down. 2006 Pole Winner: Kasey Kahne (192.533 mph).

March 16: American Commercial Lines 200 -- The spring race weekend will heat up on Friday, March 16, immediately following Georgia Power qualifying, with the return of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. March 17: Nicorette 300 -- The Nicorette 300 Busch Series race will be one of the most important races of the season, as drivers will be scrapping for every point in the race for the 2007 championship. 2006 Winner: Jeff Burton

March 18: Atlanta 500 -- The NASCAR NEXTEL Cup series invades Atlanta each March for this 500-mile event, which is earning a reputation as one of the most exciting events of the year. In fact, the spring race has produced three photo finishes -- all among the closest finishes in NASCAR history -- in recent years.

In the 2006 event, it was Kasey Kahne edging out veteran Mark Martin for the win.

April 13 -15: Georgia RV Dealers Camping and RV Show: AMS will play host to a large camping and RV trade show for three days in April. Featuring everything for the RV enthusiast, the trade show is open to the public.

Fans can expect to see classic vehicles from all three American automotive manufacturers including Ford, GM and Chrysler. Legendary drivers from NASCAR stock car racing, NHRA drag racing, SCCA road racing and many other forms of motorsports will be on hand to meet fans, and sign autographs.

Thursdays, May 31-Aug. 2: Thursday Thunder Summer Racing Series -- Each summer, Thursday Thunder rumbles through Atlanta Motor Speedway for a 10-week Legends, Bandolero and Roadster racing series.

The summer's most exciting and affordable activity, Thursday Thunder is an evening of endless fun and exciting grass-roots racing. Each night is highlighted by races in eight different classes, with the state's rising stars battling around Atlanta Motor Speedway's frontstretch quarter-mile oval.

But the racing is only part of the fun and excitement at Atlanta Motor Speedway. On the concourse, there will be weekly themes and contests, exciting intermission activities and merchandise and ticket giveaways. New for 2007, racing action will take place on Wednesday, July 4 instead of Thursday, July 5 and will include a sky illuminating fireworks extravaganza.

Oct. 27: EasyCare Vehicle Service Contracts 200 -- With intense door-to-door action and exciting last-lap passes, drivers such as Johnny Benson and Mike Skinner of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck series will return to Atlanta Motor Speedway for their second race of the year.
