Cindric, the 17-year-old son of Team Penske president Tim Cindric, will drive MMR’s No. 39 entry in the K&N East races at two road courses – this weekend at Virginia International Raceway and later this summer at Watkins Glen (N.Y.) International.

Austin already has amassed a diverse racing resume. He earned four Global Rally Cross Lites victories as well as an IMA win last season. He has also competed in two NASCAR Truck Series races last season with Brad Keselowski Racing with a best finish of 14th at Phoenix.

“I am really excited to get to race at VIR. I had never driven a stock car on a road course until our test, and I had a blast,” Austin said. “The cars are a handful with the high horsepower and heavy weight, but they are quite enjoyable to drive.

“I am very grateful of the opportunity to compete for Martin-McClure Racing, especially after their recent success. I look forward to what the weekend brings.”

MMR’s driver, Chad Finchum, won the K&N race at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway two weeks ago – the first win for the organization.

Eric McClure, team co-owner, said Austin’s racing resume was “impressive” considering his age.

“He comes from a tremendous racing pedigree,” McClure said. “He’s a quality young man as well, and we are looking forward to giving him the best chance for success at VIR.”
