BNS: HOlland: Note of interest

* Brad Leighton is the defending race winner of the Sunoco 150. Working his way forward from eighth starting position, he took the lead from Mike Olsen on lap 128 in the only lead change of the race. Olsen, who would finally get his first win one week later, held on for second with Dale Shaw, Mike Johnson, and Greg Schaefer completing the top five. Kelly Moore was a strong challenger until an accident with a lapped car took him out after 122 laps.

* Martin Truex Jr. won the Bud Pole at Holland in 2001 at a non-record 14.606 seconds, 92.428 miles per hour. The track record at Holland was set in 1996 by Andy Santerre at 14.393 seconds, 93.796 mph.

* Holland's NASCAR Weekly Racing Series presented by Dodge track champion, Vern Bliss, is entered to compete in the Sunoco 150. Bliss is also the defending Northeast Regional champion of the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series presented by Dodge.

* Holland is the last remaining charter member of the Busch North Series to have been on the schedule every year since 1987. The 1988 race was rained out and not rescheduled. Dave Dion is the only multiple winner at Holland, with three straight wins from 1995 to 1997.

* Brian Ross (1993) and John Preston (1994) have scored their only career Busch North Series victories at Holland. Other drivers winning their first Busch North race at Holland are Dale Shaw (1987) and Bryan Wall (1999).

* Holland International Speedway opened as a dirt track in 1960 and was paved in 1968. It is the only long-standing asphalt track in New York which has always featured full-bodied stock cars as its premier weekly division.

STAT OF THE WEEK

Since the Lee USA Speedway track record was broken at the season opener, Holland's qualifying record is the oldest of any active Busch North Series track. With five records in the first five races, the distinction is likely to be short-lived.
