Kelly Moore excited about Pontiac Grand Prix debut at New Hampshire International Speedway
Waldorf, MD -- There have been few competitors on NASCAR's Busch Grand National North Series that have enjoyed a season like Kelly Moore and his Tic-Tac Racing team did in 1995. A win, four seconds, eleven top-10 finishes and a series Championship to top the list. On Sunday, April 14th, Moore and his team return to New Hampshire International Speedway to embark on what many feel will be another outstanding season and quite possibly another Busch North Series championship.
Kelly has had many months to savor the rewards of his 1995 Championship season, most of which were spent in his garage preparing new Pontiac Grand Prix race cars for the upcoming season. "So far what we've seen and heard from the competitors in the South, we're really excited about running a Pontiac Grand Prix", said Moore. "Pontiac and General Motors have done an outstanding job on this car and it's quite obvious the handling characteristics are just what we were expecting".
Beginning its 10th season, the Busch North Series has always been a highly competitive series. With more than 100 entries expected for the 125-lap race, Moore and his team continually feel compelled to find ways to remain atop the competition. "We feel as a team that we must start off each season strong, if you don't, you see some teams just never recover or they take five for six races to really jell; in this series that may be too late to remain in contention for a championship" explained Moore. "Our team members are very cognizant of what it take's to win. This race team has worked extremely hard during the off season to ensure that we get off in the right direction."
Moore Racing took on a non-traditional role last year competing with two different car manufacturers, Ford and Chevrolet, and there were numerous lesson's learned in chassis setup. "Again this year, we have new equipment going to our first race but we feel we have advantage this year with the Pontiac. We still have some things to learn about this car but we feel quite confident that the Pontiac Grand Prix will perform well at NHIS and the other tracks on our schedule".
For Moore, 1996 is an opportunity to continue to conquer the goals his racing team set during the 1995 season. "We talked amongst ourselves several times during the off season and we as a team felt that we worked hard in 1995 to earn our championship but we'd like to win more in 1996," Moore said. However, we are going to run smart at each and every race and not take chances that could cost us in reaching the goals that we've set."
Could Moore wins and another championship return to the Great State of Maine in 1996?
