Nazareth, PA (7/18/99) - Kelly Moore, driver of the LesCare Kitchens Pontiac, earned a second place finish today in the Burnham Boilers 100 race at Nazareth Speedway. The 1995 Busch North Series, NASCAR Touring, champion battled a slick racetrack and suffocating temperatures that have blanketed the Northeast Region enroute to his fourth top-5 finish of 1999.

Qualifying for the Sunday feature event was held on Saturday afternoon and all forty cars that attempted to qualify made the show. Moore put the LesCare Kitchens Pontiac ninth on the starting grid but was not pleased with his qualifying effort. "I think we had a much better car but the driver didn't show it on the qualifying runs," Moore said. "We have to look at the big picture now, be patient, stay out of trouble and not use up the car in the early going. If we can do that, we can put ourselves in a position to win the race."

Moore and his competitors were faced with a very slick racetrack on Sunday afternoon. The 100-lap Busch North Series, NASCAR Touring, race was preceded by a 200-lap Craftsman Truck Series race. The combination of Goodyear rubber and extreme heat made the early going quite a challenge. "We set the car up for a slick track and we hit it just right," commented Moore. "Our crew did a great job, we had good tire wear and we brought the car home without a scratch on it. My thanks to all my crew, they kept me focused all day long and helped me to get in a good rhythm."

Moore raced all day in the top-5, but couldn't offer a challenge to eventual race winner Brad Leighton. "We didn't have the car to win the race, but we need to continue to run in the top-5 and the wins will eventually come our way," said Moore. In the overall Championship point standings, Moore gained some ground on Dave Dion, Tracy Gordon and Mike Olsen.

What's Next: The Busch North Series will be making its second and final visit of the season to the D mile Stafford Motor Speedway on July 23. Moore and his team will play host to a large contingent of LesCare Kitchens employees and their guests. On Saturday, Kelly Moore will travel to Kingfield, ME to participate in the annual Kingfield Day festivities. Kingfield is the home to longtime sponsor Jordan Lumber. Ryan Moore will return to the track at Beech Ridge Speedway (ME) on Saturday evening. Ryan pilots the LesCare Kitchens/Jordan Lumber Pontiac in the in the Super Sportsman Division at the 'Ridge.
