Moore earns a Top-5 at Jennerstown Speedway

Jennerstown, PA - Kelly Moore, driver of the LesCare Kitchens Pontiac, earned a 5th place finish Saturday evening. Moore's second top-5 finish of the 1999 season moved the LesCare team up two spots to sixth in the championship point standings. "This was a great top-5 for the team, who worked extremely well together this weekend," commented Moore. "They also turned a great pit stop for us around the halfway point, earning us some great track position. "

The Busch North Series, NASCAR Touring, has visited the picturesque track owned by the Laskey family since 1987. Moore earned his first tour victory here during the inaugural 1987 season and it has become one of Moore's favorites, and the statistics back that up. Three wins, seven top-5's and thirteen top-10 finishes. "I've always run well here and it really is a beautiful track, well maintained, and without a doubt you'll always see an exciting race," Moore said.

Moore placed his Pontiac Grand Prix among the top-10 fastest during first round qualifying, posting a fast lap of 19.955 seconds. Once the race began, Moore's car ran a little loose, but the team felt the track would tighten up and improve the handling of the racecar. Moore continued to run in the top-10 all evening until a majority of the leaders pitted on lap 71. "I suggested we tighten the car up a little but the tires we put on were not a good match," said Moore. "I was really impressed with our pit stop, these guys did an excellent job getting me back out."

Moore moved into the top-5 before the 100-lap mark, but could never mount a challenge for the race leaders. "This team has had some ups and downs the past couple of racing weekends, and to come out of here with a decent finish is something we can build on," Moore said.

The next race on the Busch North Series schedule is a combination race at Watkins Glen International on June 27. Moore and his LesCare Kitchens Pontiac will attempt their third Busch Series race of 1999, and the first of two events planned for Watkins Glen this year.
