Cajon Speedway April 27 preview

Busy night at Cajon Speedway.

EL CAJON, CA. It will be the busiest night so far this year at Cajon Speedway this Saturday night when round four of the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series presented by Dodge takes place.

Five divisions will be on the card that will wrap up the first month of the season at the busy 3/8-mile paved oval located next to Gillespie Field. The street stocks, pony stocks, bomber stocks, and the factory stocks will join the NASCAR late model sportsman stock cars when the green flag falls at 6:45 PM.

Qualifying runs start at 5:15 PM. Practice starts at 4:00. Admission prices are $10 on the east side and $9 on the west side for adults. Kids ages 6 -- 12 are $3; children under six are free with a paid adult admission. With the five divisions that means there will be 125-laps of main event action to cap the evening. Those feature events come after a full show of some ten preliminary events that will help determine the lineups for the finales. The late model sportsman finale will run 40-laps. A 25-lap affair will settle things in the street stocks. Twenty-lap contests are scheduled for the pony, bomber, and factory stocks.

Following Saturday night the late model sportsman and street stock divisions will finally get their first Saturday night off of the year. On May 4, the Speed Trucks return with the local Grand American modifieds, bomber stocks, and pony stocks plus the train racers.

But the focus this weekend will be on stopping the early season successes of three drivers. Already Ed Hale (pony stock), and Mark Holland (bomber stock) have proven themselves to be the drivers to beat in their respective divisions.

Hale, the only driver to claim multiple pony stock titles, is undefeated so far this year, having prevailed in the first two main events run in Cajon's largest (in car count) and smallest (in car size) division. Holland, who was points runner-up a year ago, won on opening night and was second two weeks ago.
