Martinsville Speedway President Clay Campbell spends a lot of time at the track and this year he'll spent part of it in a car. Taylor Motorsports has a stable of drivers that includes two-time NASCAR Slim Jim All Pro Series Champion Hal Goodson, rising star Scott Hall and Campbell for the 2001 season. Campbell will drive the No. 55 Chevrolet Monte Carlo for Taylor Motorsports in NASCAR Weekly Racing Series Limited Stock events at Caraway Speedway in Asheboro, N.C.

"Having been on the business side of racing for nearly 30 years, I've always wanted the chance to drive a competitive race car and Taylor Motorsports has given me that opportunity," he said. Last season, Campbell scored three second-place finishes and placed in the top five six times while also grabbing two pole positions in Limited Late Model Stock Division at Caraway Speedway.

Campbell brings a wealth of racing knowledge and experience to Taylor Motorsports. "Taylor Motorsports is one of the few teams that I have seen start from the ground up and have success right off the bat," he said. "George Taylor (team owner) has put key people in the right places and the results speak for themselves. George's business knowledge has also proven extremely beneficial."

Hal Goodson will pilot the No. 45 Chevrolet Monte Carlo full-time in the USAR ProCup Series, vying for championship honors. In addition, Taylor Motorsports will enter Goodson in four NASCAR Busch Series events in preparation for a full NASCAR Busch Series schedule in 2002. The team will run at Bristol Motor Speedway, Homestead-Miami Speedway and twice at Richmond International Raceway

"The opportunity to drive for Taylor Motorsports is very rewarding," Goodson said. "They have put together a racing organization that is committed to providing quality equipment and personnel in order to achieve success. I am very fortunate to be associated with a race team of this caliber."

Goodson joined Taylor Motorsports in July 2000, scoring two victories, five top-five and seven top-10 finishes, along with four pole positions while competing in only 13 USAR ProCup Series events. Scott Hall will drive the No. 5 Chevrolet Monte Carlo on the American Racing Association (ARA) late model series this season. In addition, Hall will enter three USAR ProCup Series events with plans to run a complete USAR ProCup Series schedule in 2002.

"Scott's talent behind the wheel has been very impressive," said Taylor Motorsports President/Team Manager Mike Miller. "Our goal this year is to provide Scott with the opportunity to get more experience racing with competitors from different racing series." Hall joined Taylor Motorsports in 2000, competing in the late model division at Caraway Speedway in Asheboro, N.C. In his first season with the team, he scored eight victories, 16 top-five's and 18 top 10's, along with earning 10 pole positions.

Hall's three USAR ProCup Series appearances are scheduled for Ace Speedway, Altamahaw, N.C., April 13; Peach State Speedway, Jefferson, Ga., May 12; and Lonesome Pine Raceway, Coeburn, Va., June 23.

The next action at Martinsville Speedway is the Virginia 500 NASCAR Winston Cup race on Sunday, April 8 and the Advance Auto Parts 250 Craftsman Truck Series race on Saturday, April 7. Great seats are available for both races by calling toll free at (877) 722-3849 and Virginia 500 tickets are available online at www.martinsvillespeedway.com.
