Minersville, PA -(April 12) - Dave Dissinger of Mohrsville, PA looks toward the 2001 season planning to regain the form that carried him to the 1998 NASCAR ShorTrack Sportsman crown at Big Diamond Raceway.

Dave hopes to get his first shot at the Big Diamond Raceway 3/8th-mile when the gates swing open for the track's 30th racing season on Friday night, April 20. Racing is scheduled to get underway at 8 PM featuring the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series Modifieds, NASCAR ShorTrack Sportsman and NASCAR Roadrunners. Rain and wet grounds forced the track to cancel both of their Sunday afternoon cards in April and following the off weekend for Good Friday and Easter, the track shifts to action under the lights

"Big Diamond will be my home track this year, as we receive the most support there," commented Dissinger. "My goal this year is to be able to participate in all the races at Diamond. The last two seasons have not been too kind due to health which makes this a good first goal."

In addition to his battle with phlebitis, Dave also had to deal with the passing of his father, who was a major part of his involvement in racing.

"Both of my cars will carry the number 88x in honor of my late father," continued Dissinger. "Dad's car won the '73 opener at Big Diamond and finished second in points at Grandview in '72 with the late Don Loder behind the wheel of his 88x."

The NASCAR Winston Cup teams have nothing over Dave when personalizing their cars.

"The workhorse of my two car stable is 'The Flying Dumpster' which is the same '92 Troyer that I drove to the '98 championship," shared Dave. "I also have the 2000 Troyer named 'The Chicken Coupe' at my disposal which works great and carried me to a second last year at Five Mile Point and a fourth against the 358 Modifieds at Mercer. Both cars will be powered by fresh Lou Morgantini Chevrolets."

Dave is a boost to the sport at Big Diamond as he shares his knowledge and experience with other drivers such as the rapidly developing star of recent seasons at Big Diamond, Jimmy Reppert of Hamburg, PA. 2001 Sportsman rookie Dale Hartz also of Hamburg is moving up from the roadrunners with many parts and components and much advice provided by Dissinger.

Action at Big Diamond Raceway starts every Friday night through Labor Day at 8 PM with a full card of qualifying races and features for the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series Modifieds, NASCAR ShorTrack Sportsman and NASCAR Roadrunners. The Sportsman have added incentive this season as their payoff has been increased and restructured with the feature winner each week earning $600.
