GRESHAM WINS NASCAR EAST RACE AT SOUTH BOSTON SPEEDWAY
SOUTH BOSTON, Va. (April 5, 2010) -- Rookie driver Max Gresham struggled mightily and finally won the South Boston 150, his first victory in NASCAR's K&N Pro Series East. Gresham lost the lead twice but still led 146 of the race's 150 laps.
Goodyear is the exclusive tire provider for the K&N Pro Series East and West, as well as the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series. The three series are supplied the same line of Goodyear Eagle bias-ply racing tires, allowing the teams and drivers to race in any of the three programs and be familiar with the tires.
Cole Whitt, who finished second, surged by Gresham and led laps 135 and 136 before Gresham got back in front to lead the final 14 laps. Ryan Truex finished third, followed by Ryan Gifford and Matt Kobyluck. Gresham's margin of victory was just .355 of a second.
Gresham started on the pole after qualifying first with a lap averaging 89.502 mph during time trials. There were 26 cars in the starting field.
The South Boston oval measures .4 of a mile.
