BECHTELSVIILE, PA APRIL 4, 1999 . . . NASCAR Modified and Late Model stock car racers at Grandview Speedway will be getting a free extra charge for their race cars this season. The free extra charge will come in the form of test batteries being supplied to all modified and late model racers throughout the season. In fact Exide, headquartered in nearby Reading, PA., is now of the official battery of Grandview Speedway in 1999. According to Exide's Bob Griffin, the company will be using the test battery program in an effort to gather information as to the durability of the Exide product. Additionally, Exide will supply Grandview Speedway with batteries for their support equipment and technical support throughout the race season. "While we are the official battery of NASCAR, it doesn't mean we can't also help the guys just starting out," said Griffin of Exide's Engineering Department. "We're actually helping each other in this endeavor -- teams get the test batteries, while we get the feedback. "We're quite pleased to enter into this business agreement with Theresa and Bruce Rogers (the owners of the NASCAR sanctioned Grandview Speedway). It's sort of our local track." Exide is the primary sponsor for Jeff Burton's Roush Racing Ford Taurus in NASCAR's Winston Cup Series and Mike Bliss' Roush Racing Ford Truck in NASCAR's Craftsman Truck Series, as well as Tony Schumacher's Top Fuel Team in NHRA's Winston Drag Racing Series. After six races, Burton sits atop the Winston Cup points standings. In addition to its NASCAR car/truck sponsorship programs, Exide supplies some 35 NASCAR Winston Cup teams batteries as part of a contingency program for the season. As part of the agreement with Exide, Grandview Speedway will display Exide signage and there will be public address announcements during Saturday night NASCAR stock car racing events. Grandview Speedway offers a number of marketing opportunities for local, regional and national businesses. For information on marketing through motorsports ( billboards, sponsorship of a night, samplings, product endorsement programs, award sponsorships, use of the corporate suites, use of the new large corporate picnic area, program book advertising and more) telephone Ernie Saxton Communications, Inc., 215.752.7797 or use e-mail: erniesaxton.csi.com Grandview Speedway, a one-third-mile, clay banked oval offers tripleheader NASCAR stock car racing (NASCAR Modifieds, Late Models and Sportsmen) each Saturday, 5 p.m. throughout the month of April.
