Watkins Glen, NY (March 7, 2000) - Watkins Glen International President, Bryan R. Sperber announced today that the NASCAR Featherlite Modified Series will be added to the Global Crossing @ The Glen NASCAR Winston Cup Series weekend, August 10-13. " We are pleased to once again be able to schedule the NASCAR Modified series on our premier race weekend--the Global Crossing @ The Glen," said Sperber. " With so many NASCAR modified fans in our area, it's a wonderful addition to our already spectacular line-up of races and activities." The NASCAR Featherlite Modified Tour event at Watkins Glen is scheduled to be a 38-lap / 125-mile race on Kendall Qualifying Day, Friday August 11. A tentative schedule of activities for the weekend, including the start time for the Modified race, will be released prior to April 1. Ted Christopher, defending champion of the Modified race at Watkins Glen, successfully qualified and competed in all three NASCAR events held on last year's Winston Cup weekend. Christopher won the Modified event, was runner-up to Bryan Wall in the NASCAR Busch North Series event and finished 31st in the NASCAR Winston Cup Series event. "I'm glad the Modifieds have been added to the Cup weekend," said Christopher. "The weekend at Watkins Glen is our biggest weekend and gives us the opportunity to race in front of spectacular crowds. The Glen race is great exposure for both the series and the competitors." Tickets for all 2000 events at Watkins Glen are now available, with discounts for advance ticket purchases good through May 13. For ticket, reserved camping, or additional information, contact the Watkins Glen ticket office at 607-535-2481 or visit the official Watkins Glen website at www.theglen.com .
