Goody's Dash Series 2001 schedule announced

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (December 5 2000) - The 2001 Goody's Dash Series, NASCAR Touring schedule will highlight 16 championship events at 15 racetracks across the southeast it was announced today by NASCAR. The Goody's Dash Series will return to the famed Darlington Raceway in 2001 in conjunction with the NASACAR Craftsman Truck Series on May 12. The series has not competed here since 1984. Two tracks that will host venues on the 2001 schedule are Ace Speedway, a .400-mile track in Altamahaw, N.C. on Friday, June 22nd and New River Valley Speedway in Radford, VA., another .400-mile facility on Saturday August 4th. The series has not competed at Ace Speedway since 1992 and have not run at New River Valley Speedway since 1994. The series will make five appearances at superspeedways leading off with the 23rd Annual Discount Auto Parts 200 at Daytona International Speedway on the high-banked 2.5-mile oval on Saturday, February 10th followed by the event at Darlington, then events at Lowe's Motor Speedway in Charlotte, N. C. on May 24th, and Kentucky Speedway in Sparta, Ky. on June 16th. The season will conclude at the new Nashville Superspeedway in Lebanon, Tenn. on November 25th. The series will also visit Bristol (Tenn) Motor Speedway for a Wednesday night event on August 22nd. Coastal Plains Raceway in Jacksonville, N. C. will host two series events in 2001. The .400-mile speedplant will feature the production sedans on Saturday, June 9 and again on Saturday, September 29. Greenville-Pickens Speedway in Greenville, S.C., Louisville Motor Speedway in Louisville, KY., Orange County Speedway in Rougemont, N.C., South Boston Speedway in South Boston, VA., Southern National Speedway in Kenly, N.C., and USA International Speedway in Lakeland, FL., will each return to the schedule and host a short track event in 2001. "Not since 1981 have competitors had an opportunity to compete on five different superspeedways in one season. The variety competitors and teams will have in 2001 will gain everyone valuable experience as the season progresses. We are very excited about the 2001 Goody's Dash Series, NASCAR Touring schedule." They will once again join NASCAR as a marketing partner to the series in 2001 with a commitment to the championship point fund.
