BECHTELSVILLE, PA JANUARY 8, 1999 . . . The 37th consecutive season of professional auto racing at the NASCAR sanctioned Grandview Speedway will be a busy one according to the schedule of events released this weekend at the annual Eastern Motorsport Press Association convention. Kicking off the season will be a "free-to-the-public" practice session on Saturday, March 27, 12 noon. Event organizer Bruce Rogers annually offers all racers the opportunity to practice before the season officially gets the green flag. The practice session gives fans a chance to see what is new for the coming season. The chase for the lucrative titles at Grandview Speedway, a one-third-mile, banked clay oval, will get started on Saturday, April 3 at 5 p.m. A tripleheader show of auto racing will be presented including NASCAR modifieds, late models and sportsman stock cars. In fact all Saturday shows during the month of April will include the three classes of stock car racing and the early starting time of 5 p.m. The starting time for Saturday night racing will move to 7:30 p.m. on May 1. And the sportsman stock cars will be eliminated leaving the NASCAR modifieds and late models to offer a doubleheader show of high speedway stock car racing competition every Saturday night through early September. And on the weekend of June 5 the Sunday night rain date for Saturday night race shows will be put in place for the balance of the point chase events. Sprint car racing will be in the spotlight on Wednesday, May 5 when the All Star Circuit of Champions sprint cars and KARS Series sprint racers are featured in a special Bruce Rogers/Bob Miller Thunder on the Hill promotion. This will be the first of five such special promotions. Also included in the "specials" will be the Keystone Pretzels Pennsylvania Speedweek Series sprint show and KARS Series sprinters on Sunday, June 27. A Grandview Thunder 4- 25s feature program will feature the ARDC midgets, wingless sprints, NASCAR modifieds and 410 sprints on Tuesday, July 20. The DIRT Skoal Series Modified Thunder 99 lap feature will top the action on Thursday, August 12. And on Wednesday, August 25 the annual King of the Hill Sprint Championship sanctioned by the All Star Circuit of Champions sprint organization will be offered along with KARS Series sprint racing. Saturday night specials will include the NASCAR modifieds in twin 20-lap features along with late models on Saturday, June 19. The $10,000 to win Forrest Rogers Memorial featuring the NASCAR modifieds will be presented on Saturday, August 7. And on Saturday, September 11 the biggest event of its kind in the tri-state area, the 29th annual Freedom 76 Modified Classic, will be presented with at least $20,000 going to the winner. The season will close out on Saturday, September 18, with open competition modifieds and late models along with sportsman stock cars. Also on the schedule is the annual Freedom 76 Golf Classic set for Thursday, September 9 at the Gilbertsville, PA Golf Course. And on November 20 the 37th annual Grandview Speedway Awards Banquet will be presented at the Gilbertsville, PA Fire Hall. Grandview Speedway is a one-third-mile, banked clay speedway located off Route 100 on Passmore Road in Bechtelsville, PA, 10 miles north of Pottstown.

Grandview Speedway has a multi-million dollar economic impact on the region surrounding the speedway and continues to bring national media attention to the Berks/Montgomery Co. area. In addition a large percentage of fans and racers are from the Lehigh Valley area (Allentown/Bethlehem/Easton).
