JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA, (August 24, 1999) Racing action at Jax Raceways was fast and furious last weekend, as the track played host to a special 40 Lap Hobby Stock race, along with the other four speedway divisions.

The night of racing began once again with qualifying action in two of the five divisions. Late Model points leader Jeff Godbee would set fast time once again, circling the "D" shaped oval in 19.243 with Terry Pless turning in the second fastest with a 19.19.619.

Godbee would get things his way, as the spin of the wheel would leave him on the pole with Pless on the outside. Godbee would take the lead on the first lap, and pull away to an impressive victory, beating the second place car, being driven by Michael Murrer, by a half a track. David Browning came from the tail of the field to claim the third spot with JO Nobles in fourth, and Buster Delay making up the top five. Six through tenth was Pless, Steve Whitener, Travis Burris and Robert McCormick. It was Godbees 13th win out of 22 starts this season.

The Hobby Stock division saw three drivers swapping the front spot around a few times, before a winner could be decided. Marty Kelly took the front spot and battled it out with Randy Clark SR until being sent to the pits to repair a right rear seal leak, Kelly's crew would make the repairs and Kelly would make it back on the track before going a lap down. Randy Clark SR, Joey Miller and Eddie Holton would continue to put on a show for the crowd for the remaining laps as muiltable cautions would cause the event to be cut short at 29 laps. Randy Clark would hold on for the win, with Miller in second, Kelly came back up to finish third and Holton was fifth and Jamie Green made up the top five. Sixth through tenth was Tony Callaway, Calvin Pike, Bill Adkins, Rick Hutchinson and James Hanner.

The Powder Puff Division saw few surprises as three time defending champion Karen Greenslet set fast time in qualifying action turning in a lap of 22.822, to place her on the pole, with Five time 1999 winner Cindy Holton on the outside. Holton would get the jump on Greenslet on the fire of the race, and hold the lead until lap 3 when Greenslet made her way to the front, where she would stay. Robin Wilson, Patty Duren, Belinda, and Julia Callaway would follow Greenslet across the line. Holton, Maudie Baker, Shelly Petteway, Sandy McCoy and Kim Lester made up the top ten.

The Open Wheel Modified had a new face in the winner circle. Former division champion Gary Porter took the lead from Keny Porter on the third lap, after Keny Porter lost his transmission and was put in the pits for the night. Gary Porter would hold off a hard charging Marty Whitener, who made Porter earn the win. Whitener would settle for second, with his brother Steve Whitener, Jake Wood and Ronnie Ponce in fifth. Sixth through tenth was made up of Kenny Bayless, Steve Skipper, Roy Knight, Robert McCormick and Kevin Bayless.
