(West Salem, WI - June 10, 2000) Brad Powell was looking for his second-straight NASCAR Late Model feature win after a three-year span away from Victory Lane, but on Saturday night, Mike Belling would deny that bid, as he earned his first feature win of the season.

Belling took the lead on a lap 12 yellow, then held off Kevin Nuttleman and Powell to take the checkered. Nuttleman finished third behind Belling and Powell.

Mark Lamoreaux led the first ten laps of the race, battling with Belling for most of that time, with the two cars bumping several times. On lap 11, they came together in turn four, and as both cars slid up the track, Paul Proksch ducked under both cars to take the lead. Things really got interesting two laps later when the yellow flew for a Mike Ehde spin, as Lamoreaux and Proksch touched under yellow in turn one, with Proksch blowing a tire in the contact. Proksch went to the pits to fix the tire, while Lamoreaux was black flagged, and the lead was turned over to Belling.

Nuttleman got by Powell on the restart to take second, and quickly looked to the inside of Belling, but to no avail. He tried for several laps to get by on the outside, but the 43 car

held him at bay, until Powell drove back underneath Nuttleman, and managed to retake second on lap 17.

Belling opened up a lead on Powell and Nuttleman as they battled, and Steve Carlson closed on them, but couldn't get by as they battled for second.

Belling earned his first feature win of the season, while Powell, Nuttleman, Carlson and Brent Kirchner rounded out the top five. Tony Bagstad finished sixth, followed by Todd Korish, Marv DeGarmo, Rick Wateski and Kraig Burrows.=20

Frank Doherty took the B-Main, while heat wins went to Doherty and Shawn Pfaff. The Odd and Even Bud Dashes went to Lamoreaux and Wateski.

Tom Thill outmotored Jon Barrette early in the Ray Hutson Chevrolet Grand National Sportsman feature, then pulled away for his first feature win of the season. Barrette finished second, followed by Rob Mahan, points leader Dan Gilster and Sam Andersen.

John Korish took the B-Main, heats went to Mike Jacobs, Phil Schreier and Greg Scheck, while the Bud Dash wins went to Don Henderson and Chuck Timm. Rain forced the cancellation of late model qualifications, and kept the sportsman drivers from completing qualifying.

Kelly Schendel came across the finish line second in the United Auto Supply Thunderstox feature, but took the win when Jeff Schaitel failed post-race inspection. Dale Jacob finished second, followed by Adam Degenhardt, Les Stanfield and Jason Bolster. Dan Secor took the B-Main, and heats went to Jacob, Bolster and Schaitel . Schendel also took the Bud Dash win for the Thunderstox.

The Hornets were back in action, and many of the drivers will be wanting to see just how Keith Kirchner prepared his car. He took a heat win, then started 23rd in a 24-car feature, and came away with a convincing win, taking the lead just seven laps into the race. Ryan Larson finished second in that feature, with Dan Osthoff, Jeff Martin and Michael Steele rounding out the top five. In the other feature, it was Rick Placek taking the checkered, followed by Ben Allen, Chris Hartley, Todd Lemke and Dan Rozek. The other heat wins went to Charlie Schwabenbauer and Bruce Schuttemeyer.
