Local favorites set to compete in June 14 Goody's Dash 150 at South Boston

SOUTH BOSTON, Va. (June 10, 2003)-- When the NASCAR Goody's Dash Series visits Big Daddy's South Boston Speedway June 14 for the Goody's Dash 150, it will bring new faces to the legendary speedway, but two drivers entered in the event are already familiar to local fans.

Wade Day, the 2002 NASCAR Weekly Racing Series presented by Dodge Atlantic Region champion, will make a Goody's Dash Series start at South Boston aboard the Refrigerator Services Inc. Toyota. Later that evening, he will climb aboard his familiar No. 92 Kenny Law Roofing Chevrolet and attempt to capture his first Coors Light Late Model victory at South Boston, as the Coors Light Late Model cars compete for 150 laps. After winning the track championship at Lonesome Pine International Raceway last season, Day is set for another title run at South Boston. He currently is tied with Woody Howard for fifth, 36 points in arrears of leader Jimmy Mullins. Day's racing experience, coupled with his experience at South Boston, should enable him to be a top contender in the Goody's Dash 150.

After landing a storybook opportunity to drive for Dale Earnhardt Jr., T.J. Majors has proved successful in his rookie year of the Goody's Dash Series. He currently sits sixth in Dash series points, and leads the chase for the rookie crown. He holds a three-point advantage in the rookie points over another former South Boston competitor, Jay Godley. Majors will command the No. 26 Pontiac in the Goody's Dash 150. His laps turned in Late Model competition at South Boston could translate into his first career Goody's Dash Series victory.

Grandstand gates for the Goody's Dash 150 and Coors Light Late Model 150 open at 4:30 p.m., qualifying begins at 5 p.m., and the green flag will fly at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adult general admission, or $25 for reserved seating. Youth age 10 to 15 pay $10, and children nine and under are free. Fans will receive the opportunity to meet their favorite Goody's Dash Series and Coors Light Late Model drivers at 6:30 p.m., during an on-track Fan Appreciation autograph session.
