Mike Ray crowned Super Late Model champion at the Bullring

LAS VEGAS--Champions were crowned at the final NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series points night at the Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway Saturday night. Super Late Model driver Mike Ray was crowned the track champion.

Quality Motorsports driver Ray, 49, was crowned the Super Late Model track champion with four wins, 13 top-five finishes and 16 top-10 finishes in 19 starts.

"I had one real goal tonight and that was to win the championship," said Ray. "Maybe it wasn't in a real dominating fashion but a championship is all year long. Luck was a big part of it, a lot of help from teammates."

Quality Motorsports teammate Mike Cofer posted his sixth win this season in the 50-lap Super Late Model feature event. Cofer was untouchable even through the one caution period on the last lap which determined a green-white-checkered flag finish. Thane Alderman finished second followed by Chuck Trickle and NASCAR Busch Series star Kyle Busch.

Doug Hamm earned his sixth Late Model win in the 30-lap feature event to clinch the track championship. Rich Attisani finished second in the feature followed by Wayne Jacks and Chris Bray. Hamm end the season with six wins, 14 top-five finishes and 15 top-10 finishes in 16 starts.

"I'd like to thank my dad, he put a lot of effort in this car and my crew and sponsors," said Hamm.

In the 25-lap Chargers main event Brain Matzke earned his first win this season. Bill Mullen finished second followed by Fred Kiser Jr. and Nathan Giesen.

Fred Kiser Jr. was crowned the Chargers track champion with four wins, 13 top-five and top-10 finishes in 16 starts.

"I was just trying to stay out of the mess tonight. It has taken me four years to get here, but I'm the champ," said and elated Kiser Jr.

Semi-Pro Legends Cars driver Dustin Ash, 16, posted his 15th win in the 25-lap main event and was crowned the track champion. Ash finished the year with 15 wins, 16 top-five finishes and 16 top-10 finishes in 19 starts.

"This year was so good. I have had so much fun," said Ash in Summit Racing Equipment Victory Lane. "I couldn't ask for any more from my parents and sponsors. I'm just out here having fun. This is so cool to be out here."

Pro Legends Cars driver Tom Lovelady posted his second win this season in the Pro/Master Legends Cars 25-lap feature event. Taylor Barton finished second followed by Jeremy Wood and Jimmy Parker Jr.

Barton, 19, was crowned the Pro Legends Cars track champion with eight wins, 18 top-five finishes and 19 top-10 finishes in 19 starts.

"These guys give me tough competition. I'm happy to be out here with all these good, young drivers," said Barton. "This year I dedicate to my dad, crew and mom they have been supporting me all this time."

Dennis Lovelady, 58, was crowned the Master Legends Cars track champion with eight wins, 17 top-five finishes and 19 top-10 finishes in 19 starts.

"I want to thank my wife, all my sponsors and my son Tom for setting up my car," said Lovelady.

In Thunder Roadster action, Steve Ray maintained a substantial lead on the field in the 25-lap main event to post his second win this season. Dave Green finished second followed by Matt Ross and Roger Hocking.

Green, 34, was crowned the Thunder Roadster track champion with 13 wins, 18 top-five finishes and 18-top 10 finishes in 18 starts.

"This has been a great year," said Dave Green. "I want to thank Dale at Winner's Circle and I also want to thank Community Bank and Blueprint Engines."

In the first 15-lap Bandolero Cars main event John Davis took the checkered flag followed by Austin Murphy and Sarah Chelberg.

Jeremiah Wagner, 11, was crowned the Bandolero Cars track champion with four wins, 15 top-five finishes and 18 top-10 finishes in 18 starts.

"I feel great. We have been trying hard all year. We've taken apart so many motors. I want to thank my dad, Chris, Alex and everybody else who has been helping me."

Austin Murphy was crowned the 2004 National champion. The 12-year-old's Bullring statistics are eight wins, nine top-five finishes and 11 top-10 finishes in 11 starts.

"It feels great. I just really want to thank my dad," screamed Murphy.

Spencer Clark, 17, earned his first ASA Speed Truck Challenge presented by CMKXtreme.com win in the 75-lap main event. Clark led from the green to checkered flag and held off a several time winner Lee Hatch, who finished second.

"We haven't been to victory lane in a speed truck, tonight was our night," said Clark in Summit Racing Equipment Victory Lane.

Mike Heck won the 7-Eleven Bullring Bombers 40-lap feature event to clinch the track championship title.
