LAS VEGAS - This Saturday, Mechanix Wear Speed Trucks will guest star at The Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway during the second NASCAR Weekly Racing Series event of the 2001 season.

The 75-lap feature this weekend marks the first of six scheduled Speed Truck races at The Bullring this season.

The Mechanix Wear Speed Trucks consist of Ford Rangers, Dodge Dakotas, Chevy S-10s, and Toyota Tacomas. Their season started Mar. 17 at Irwindale Speedway and concludes Nov. 10, 2001 at The Bullring at LVMS.

Scheduled to race are 2000 series champion Darren Young of Gilbert, Ariz., and 2000 Rookie-of-the-Year Randy Brown of West Covina, Calif.

NASCAR Weekly Racing Series short track competition this weekend also will include Late Models, Grand American Modifieds, Legends Cars, and Chargers.

Children are encouraged to bring their bicycles to participate in the "Kids bicycle races" on the 3/8-mile paved oval.

Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for senior/military and $3 for children ages 6-12 and are available through the LVMS ticket office (800) 644-4444. Spectator gates open at 5 p.m. and racing begins at 7.

Friday 4/6: 6 pm Legends and Bandolero points race (The Bullring)

7:30 am - 8:30 pm NHRA qualifying (The Strip)

Saturday 4/6: 5 pm gates open for NWRS/ Speed Trucks event (The Bullring)

Sunday 4/8: 7 am gates open for NHRA Finals (The Strip)
