CLAREMONT, NC (April 9, 2003) - Robert Huffman is among a host of successful drivers bred in the Hickory, NC area. He cut his teeth at the famed Hickory Motor Speedway before making the move in full-time NASCAR racing.
For Robert Huffman the statistics are impressive. Four-time Goody's Dash Series, NASCAR Touring Champion (1990, 1998, 1999, and 2000). In 1990 he also won the Rookie of the Year title. He was voted Most Popular Driver in 2000, and has amassed 39 wins in 177 starts. His switch to a Toyota Celica in 2001 also introduced TRD to their first taste of victory in NASCAR racing.
Included in the milestones are victories at Daytona International Speedway (4), Bristol Motor Speedway, and Lowe's Motor Speedway where he has visited victory lane on three occasions.
He began 2003 by winning the season opener at Daytona. This was his third win in a row at the World Center of Racing.
After a fourth place finish at Oglethorpe Speedway Park on April 6, 2003 the #37 White House Apple Juice/TRD team now sets their sights on a track close to home.
"I love racing in Charlotte. We have done well at the speedway and it would be really sweet if we could reach number 40 in front of the home crowd," said Huffman.
The Goody's Dash Series will visit Lowe's Motor Speedway on Saturday, May 17, 2003 and will race in conjunction with NASCAR's All-Star race, The Winston.
