NASCAR Canadian Recognition VIP Reception Announced
National Event To Be Held November 10 In Downtown Toronto

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Oct. 8, 2010) -- NASCAR announced today that it will host a NASCAR Canadian Recognition VIP Reception on Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2010 in The Fermenting Cellar at The Distillery in downtown Toronto to recognize the accomplishments of participants in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1, as well as competitors participating in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series in Canada.

In addition to drivers and teams from both series, the invitation-only event will include sponsors, track operators and media partners, as well as representatives from NASCAR's Canadian and U.S. offices.

"This is a great opportunity to honor the depth and strength of the racing talent prevalent at all levels of stock-car racing in Canada. It is also the perfect setting for thanking our key corporate partners like Canadian Tire, Mobil 1, Whelen Engineering and TSN, just to name a few," said George Silbermann, Managing Director, Racing Operations for NASCAR. "Gathering the Canadian motorsports community together in this way helps to highlight the passion and commitment that exists at the top of our sport, and at racing venues in provinces from coast to coast."

Special recognition will be focused on the newly-crowned 2010 Canadian Tire Series champion DJ Kennington, who won his first series title on the power of five victories and nine top-five finishes. The NASCAR Canadian Tire Series, Canada's premier racing series, competes on oval tracks and road courses from British Columbia to Nova Scotia.

Top Canadian competitors from the grassroots NASCAR Whelen All-American Series (NWAAS) will also be recognized. Invitations have gone out to individual racetrack champions at NASCAR-sanctioned Home Tracks in three Canadian Provinces, as well as to the drivers who earned top spots as 2010 NWAAS Provincial Champions and those finishing inside the Top 500 of all series drivers.

This VIP event will also serve as a launching pad for competitors who will be making their way to Charlotte, N.C., along with other racers from throughout North America, to be recognized on the international stage during the NASCAR Night of Champions Touring Awards Gala on Saturday, Dec. 11 and the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Awards Banquet on Friday, Dec. 10. Both ceremonies will be held in the Crown Ballroom of the Charlotte Convention Center in the new NASCAR Hall of Fame complex. Both of those events will also be streamed live throughout Canada and the rest of the world on nascarhometracks.com.

The Fermenting Cellar at The Distillery is located in Toronto's downtown core within the Distillery District which is a 13-acre village of brick-lined streets and several restored Victorian industrial buildings. The event will be from 4-7 p.m. ET.
