SES: 1999 Slim Jim All Pro Series Schedule Announced

NASCAR OFFICIALS ANNOUNCE 1999 SLIM JIM ALL PRO SERIES SCHEDULE

DAYTONA BEACH, FL - A 16-race slate taking drivers to seven states and 14 tracks throughout the southeast and mid-atlantic regions of the United States makes up the Slim Jim All Pro Series, a part of NASCAR's Touring Division, schedule announced today by NASCAR officials. "Since the inception of the Slim Jim All Pro Series in 1991, numerous drivers and teams have utilized the series as an ideal entry level into NASCAR Touring Series competition, as well as a stepping stone to NASCAR's National Divisions," stated Dennis Huth, NASCAR's Vice President for Administration. "Drivers such as Rick Crawford, Jason Keller and Shane Hall have all used the Slim Jim All Pro Series as a springboard to loftier NASCAR pursuits. Competing in the Slim Jim All Pro Series helps drivers to attain versatility by competing on tracks of different configurations, and develops teamwork skills so integral to success in all of NASCAR racing." Twice in 1999, the Slim Jim All Pro Series drivers will share track time with competitors on the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. On May 8, at Memphis Motorsports Park in Millington, Tenn., both series return for a Saturday doubleheader after a standing-room-only event when the 0.750-mile oval was christened in 1998. On Saturday, June 5 the Slim Jim All Pro Series returns to Bristol Motor Speedway after a one-year hiatus. The All Pro teams rejoin the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and Goody's Dash Series on that weekend for a 100-lap race prior to the start of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event. The 0.750-mile USA International Speedway in Lakeland, Fla. will host a series event for the first time serving as the site of the season opener on Saturday, April 10. In addition to Bristol Motor Speedway, the series will return to three tracks that have hosted events in years' past, but did not host series races in 1998. On May 1 the teams will run a 200 lap race at the 0.375 -mile Orange County Speedway in Rougemont, N.C. Also returning to the schedule is Langley Speedway in Hampton, Va. On July 17 drivers will take to the 0.400-mile oval for a 200 lap race that will serve as the only series event to be held in Virginia in 1999. Lastly, on August 7, tight-quarters racing will take place on the 0.363-mile Hickory Motor Speedway in Hickory, N.C. Tracks that hosted events in 1998 and are again on this year's schedule include St. Augustine (Fla.) Speedway, Greenville-Pickens (S.C.) Speedway, Myrtle Beach (S.C.) Speedway, Lanier (Ga.) National Speedway, Caraway (N.C.) Speedway, Louisville (Ky.) Motor Speedway, Nashville (Tenn.) Speedway USA and Concord (N.C.) Motorsport Park. All are NASCAR Winston Racing Series facilities with rich racing histories and enthusiastic fans.
