<pre> DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (January 24, 2001) - The 2001 All Pro Series, NASCAR Touring schedule will have 16 championship point events in seven states at 13 race tracks throughout the Southeast, it was announced today by officials for the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing.

The series will begin the season on Sunday, March 25th, with a return to Mobile International Speedway in Irvington, Ala., for a 200-lap event. The last time the series visited the .500-mile speedway was in 1996. The series will race in Alabama on two other occasions in 2001. On Saturday, May 12th the series will return to the .625-milie Birmingham International Raceway and the .500-mile Montgomery Motor Speedway on Saturday, June 2nd.

There will be four superspeedway events on the 2001 schedule including two visits to the 1.5-mile Kentucky Speedway in Sparta, Ky., in June and August. The series will also visit the .750-mile Memphis (Tenn) Motorsports Park in October and then close the season at the newly-constructed 1.333-mile Nashville Superspeedway in Lebanon, Tenn. on Sunday, November 25th. The series will compete alongside the NASCAR Busch Series, Grand National Division, at Kentucky Speedway in June and Memphis Motorsports Park in October.

The series will also head back to the high-banks of Bristol (Tenn) Motor Speedway for a 250-lap event on Wednesday, August 22nd.

The historic Greenville-Pickens Speedway in Greenville, S. C. and Nashville (Tenn) Speedway USA will both host two events for the series in 2001.

USA International Speedway in Lakeland, Fla., Louisville (Ky) Motor Speedway, Myrtle Beach (S.C.) Speedway and South Boston (Va.) Speedway will each return to the schedule and host a short track event in 2001.

"This year's All Pro Series schedule offers competitors and exciting combination of short track and superspeedway events," stated Tom Deery, NASCAR vice president. "We developed a schedule that gives competitors a chance to perform on superspeedways alongside some of our national series while also competing on their own at established short track facilities around the region."

The All Pro Series is one of nine NASCAR Touring Series that blanket the United States, bringing special events to many NASCAR Weekly Racing Series tracks and some NASCAR superspeedways and road courses. NASCAR Touring Series can provide a competitor with an entire career, or they can provide valuable experience to competitors moving through the NASCAR ranks. Corporate sponsors make significant contributions to NASCAR Touring Series point funds.

The sponsors include R. J. Reynolds, Anheuser-Busch, Featherlite Trailers, Goody's Headache Powders, O'Reilly Auto Parts, Raybestos Brakes and RE/MAX International, Incorporated.
