WHAT: Memphis Motorsports Park 100 WHERE: Memphis Motorsports Park, Millington, Tenn., 0.750-mile oval WHEN: Saturday, May 13, 5:00 p.m. DISTANCE: 100 laps (75 miles) POSTED AWARDS: $76,350 (including $5,300 Slim Jim All Pro Series, NASCAR Touring Championship point fund money.)

FIELD: 36 cars. Fastest 30 cars through time trials (2 laps). Five provisional starting positions, including either four or five based on the current Slim Jim All Pro Series, NASCAR Touring point standings and possibly one provisional position for a former champion of the series who will have also raced in a series points event in1999. One provisional starting position will be assigned to any of the top 20 drivers in the final 1999 RE/MAX Challenge Series, NASCAR Touring Championship points, who has not qualified for one of the original 30 starting positions.

THE RACE: The Memphis Motorsports Park 100 is the fifth race on the 17-race 2000 Slim Jim All Pro Series, NASCAR Touring schedule. Thirty six cars will take to the 0.750 mile oval for the 100-lap, 75-mile race. This race represents the third consecutive year that the drivers in the Slim Jim All Pro Series, NASCAR Touring will race at Memphis Motorsports Park.

1999 RESULTS: In last year's race Greer, S.C.'s Steven Howard earned his first career Slim Jim All Pro Series, NASCAR Touring win. The Dick Brooks Automotive/Greer Floor Center Chevrolet driver led twice for 91 laps, first taking the lead on lap five, pitting during the race's first caution on lap 13, then regaining the top spot for good on lap 18. Rounding out the top five were Ronnie Burkett, Eddie Mercer, Billy Bigley, Jr. and Randy Gentry.

Statesville, N.C.'s Scott Kilby grabbed the Bud Pole Award and led from the initial green flag until Howard took over on lap five. Howard's race winning time of 46 minutes and 34 seconds established a new race record and his winning average speed was 96.636 mph. Howard also earned the Gatorade Front Runner Award for leading at the race's halfway point. There were three caution periods for 13 laps and three lead changes amongst three drivers. Coy Gibbs earned rookie-of-the-race honors.

NOTES OF INTEREST

· Last year's race represented the first of two wins for Steven Howard. His second win came at Gateway International Raceway in Madison, Ill on May 29, 1999. It was truly the "month of May" for Howard. · This race, running as a companion event to the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race, is the second of three races that the Slim Jim All Pro Series cars will share a track with Truck Series competitors. On February 26 the two divisions raced at Homestead-Miami Speedway and on the weekend of June 16-17 both divisions will christen the new Kentucky Speedway in Sparta, Ky.

STAT OF THE WEEK: Memphis Motorsports Park has not been kind to Tennessee drivers. Memphis' Eddie Hanks was the top finishing Volunteer State driver in 1998, winding up 31st after an accident. There were no competitors from Tennessee in the 1999 running of the Memphis Motorsports Park 100.
