FIELD: 32 Cars. Twenty-seven starting positions will be determined through two laps of qualifying. Positions 28- 29 will be available to any driver in the top 30 2001 Gatorade All Pro Series, NASCAR Touring Championship point standings who has not qualified for one of the original 27positions, provided eligible driver attempts to qualify in qualifying events. Provisional positions 30- 31 are available to any top 30 car owner in the current 2001 points standing who has not qualified for one of the original 27positions and provisional position 32 will be for a past champion who ran in 2000 on the series. Official points standing and not time trial speed will determine these positions.

THE RACE: The Myrtle Beach 320 will be race 9 of 16 races on the 2001 Gatorade All Pro Series, NASCAR Touring Schedule. Cautions will count towards total laps and the race can end with a checkered flag or a green-white-checkered situation.

EVENT REVIEW: Hal Goodson returned to the track he considers his hometrack and scored his first victory on the D-shaped .538-mile oval in numerous attempts with the series. Goodson was the last car in the 29 car field to take qualifying and he took advantage of that position winning the pole for the first time with the series at Myrtle Beach. Goodson was certainly the dominate car in the field leading all but 28 laps of the 250 lap event. Goodson led through the first 142 laps then when the fifth race caution was waved many of the top cars pitted for fuel and tires. Randy Gentry stayed on the track assuming the lead. After his pit stop Goodson moved back into contention on lap 154, staying close behind Gentry then regained the top spot on lap 171. Billy Bigley Jr., overhauled Gentry on the remaining laps to finish second with Gentry finishing third.

(3) Current series driver Wayne Anderson won here in 1997 as well as defending series champion Billy Bigley Jr. winning here in 1995.
