WHAT: 29th Annual Snap-On Tools/Roger Holdeman Memorial Winchester 400 WHERE: Winchester Speedway, Winchester, Ind., 0.500 mile oval WHEN: Sunday, September 27, 1998, 1:00 p.m. DISTANCE: 400 laps (200 miles) POSTED AWARDS: $86,925 (including $6,200 Slim Jim All Pro Series Championship point fund money.) FIELD: 30 cars. Starting positions 1-26 will be determined by time trials (2 laps). Positions 27-30 will be available to any of the top 30 eligible drivers in the current 1998 NASCAR Slim Jim All Pro Series Championship point standings, who have entered the event, but have not qualified for one of the original 26 starting spots. If a starting position(s) remains unfilled, then that starting position(s) will become available to the next eligible car from the qualifying procedure for the event.

THE RACE: The 29th Annual Snap-On Tools/Roger Holdeman Memorial Winchester 400 is the 16th race on the 19-race 1998 Slim Jim All Pro Series Schedule. With four races remaining, this race represents the first of two races that consist of 400 laps on the balance of the 1998 schedule. The other 400 lapper will be held at Nashville Speedway U.S.A. on October 18.

1997 REVIEW: Denver, N.C.'s Hank Parker, Jr. picked up his second career Slim Jim All Pro Series win in this historic and prestigious event. Parker led three times for 248 laps and took the lead for good on lap 347. Local favorite Jeff Fultz finished second while Mike Harmon, Ron Young and Carl Long rounded out the top five. Nipper Alsup earned the Bud Pole Award.

NOTES OF INTEREST - This race will be the seventh consecutive Winchester 400 that will be sanctioned by NASCAR and part of the annual Slim Jim All Pro Series schedule. - Area drivers that may attempt to run the race include Brian Ross, Josh Clemons, Spanks Overbeck, Brian Rievley, Ray Skillman, Bobby Blount, Tony Ridner and Vern Slaugh. - This is the only race on the 1998 Slim Jim All Pro Series schedule that includes a companion event with the ARCA Bondo/Mar-Hyde SuperCar Series. The ARCA cars will run on Saturday, September 26.

STAT OF THE WEEK: Finishing races, and staying on the lead lap, contributes to a driver's point total. Series points leader Hal Goodson also leads in the laps completed category. The driver of the Nortel/Northern Telecom Chevrolet has completed 2779 of 2822 laps for a laps completed percentage of 98.48%.
