Big Daddy's South Boston Speedway announce schedule changes

SOUTH BOSTON, Va. (June 19, 2003)-- A soggy spring has motivated Big Daddy's South Boston Speedway to modify it's 2003 schedule of events to meet the needs of its competitors, fans and sponsors. Officials announced today that the changes include adding 150-Lap events for the Coors Light Late Models to two existing events, the July 2nd ARCA RE/MAX Liberty 200 and the August 2nd USAR Hooter's Pro Cup 250. Both 150-lap Coors Light Late Model events pay $3000 to win. The Sheetz Limited Sportsman has been added to an existing event as well and will run a 150-lap race on October 18th with the USAC Mini Indy Midget 200. Also adding two weekends to the existing schedule, Sunday September 7th, the Sunday after Richmond's Saturday night Winston Cup event, and Saturday September 20th, Big Daddy' s South Boston Speedway will host a full slate of short track racing with 150-laps for the Coors Light Late Models, 50-laps for the Sheetz Limited Sportsman, and 30-laps for the Pure Stocks. Again, the winner of the Coors Light Late Model event gets a $3000 payday. A fully revised schedule of events is attached.

Big Daddy's South Boston Speedway General Manager Cathy Rice commented, "The changes to the schedule was done for the fans and competitors. The fans love coming to the speedway to watch a race and just like the staff when rain is in the area it's disheartening not to get the show in. As for the competitors we had to do something to help them. We need a certain number of races in for the NASCAR CPI (Competition Points Index). It's not fair to those who are running for regional points to possibly not win a regional or national championship because we didn't have the required number of races. I feel everyone involved, from the fans to competitors will agree with the schedule changes."

The next event on the Big Daddy's South Boston Speedway schedule is the June 21st Sprint Night, featuring twin 110 laps for the Coor's Light Late Model Stock division, 50 laps for the Sheetz Limited Sportsman cars, 30 laps for the Pure Stock division and a 50-lap event for the Rolling Thunder Modifieds. Also as a part of the evening's pre-race ceremonies will be the 2nd Faster Pastor event. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for youth age 10 to 15. Children nine and under are free. Children age four to seven can also participate in the weekly Pepsi Racing for Kids Challenge. Grandstand gates open at 5 p.m., with qualifying at 5:30 p.m. The Pepsi Racing for Kids Challenge will take the green flag at 6 p.m., while NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series starts at 7 p.m.
