Erie, Colo. - As the Featherlite Southwest Series, NASCAR Touring division heads into the final three races of the season, teams and drivers are excited about the United Power/Touchstone Energy "150" at Colorado National Speedway Saturday, August 17.

The stars of the series will be in force to do battle with several local drivers vying for one of the 26-starting positions in the popular event. The United Power/Touchstone Energy "150" will be televised (Tape Delay) by SPEED Channel for broadcast on Monday, September 16 at 8:00 pm EST. More than 14,000 fans are expected to attend, making the event the biggest short track race of the season.

Two Featherlite Southwest Series drivers will be in town early in support of the race. Jim Pettit II of Prunedale, Calif. is coming off his best finish of the season this past Saturday at Irwindale Speedway. Pettit finished fourth to record his fourth straight top-10 performance of the year. The finish vaulted Pettit into fourth place in the overall season standings and put the veteran just 150 markers behind point leader Eddy McKean.

"This is how we should have run all season," Pettit said. "We had some bad luck early this year, but the whole team has worked hard and our finishes of late are proving what we are capaple of."

Also making a move up in the point standings is Longmont, Colo. resident Greg Fowler. Fowler finished 12th at Irwindale to boost his ranking in the standings to the 20th position. Fowler is optimistic about his chances on Saturday. "It is always nice to race at home," Fowler said. "I have had success here (CNS) in the past, and know we can finish in the top five."

Both drivers will be at John Elway Chevrolet Thursday, August 15 from 5:00 - 7:00 pm signing autographs . Jim Pettit's Hall Kinion #03 Ford Taurus will be on display and fans are encouraged to come by and take a tour of the hauler and meet the drivers .

The Featherlite Southwest Series is one of eight NASCAR Touring Series that blanket the United States. NASCAR Touring brings special events to many NASCAR Weekly Racing Series tracks and some NASCAR superspeedways and road courses. NASCAR Touring Series can provide a competitor with an entire career, or they can provide valuable experience to competitors moving through the NASCAR ranks. Corporate sponsors make significant contributions to NASCAR Touring Series point funds. The sponsors include Anheuser-Busch, Featherlite Trailers, Gatorade, Goody's Headache Powders, Raybestos Brakes, Hills Brothers Coffee, RE/MAX International, Inc., and R.J. Reynolds brand Winston.
