Tracy Readinger ready for big season at Grandview

TRACY READINGER READY FOR A BIG SEASON AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY

BECHTELSVILLE, PA March 24, 2000 . . . First it was stock cars and then sprints and now back to modified stocks. That sort of sums up the auto racing career of 32-year-old Tracy Readinger. "We are back to modified stock car racing at Grandview Speedway because we think we can be a winner. We missed by a narrow margin a couple of times. Now we have some new equipment, some spare parts and we go do some serious racing," said the Oley, PA racer. Readinger has been a winner in sprint car racing and was Rookie of the Year with the United Racing Club sprint organization. However he found that it was tough to find sponsors and even tougher to find and keep crew members that want to travel. "Racing at Grandview Speedway has always been fun. We have had some great runs on the banked clay oval. We have come close to winning a few times. And we think that with the changes we have made, the improvements, we can be a contender for feature wins and the championship," said Readinger. Readinger and his car owner partner Donnie Hoffman ( D&S Archery in Barto) have been together for 10 years. This year they have 2 1999 Bicknell racers, one is a coil over and the other a roller. One will be used for racing at Grandview Speedway on Saturday nights, that will be their priority track. And the second card will be used at Big Diamond Raceway on Friday nights as often as they can make it. "We would love to be in a position to do well in the season opener at Grandview Speedway (April 1, 5 p.m.). There is a lot of money being offered in prize money, and the various NASCAR, track and Motor Equipment Kenworth Cummins Dual Track point funds. We plan to be a contender in any race we run this season," said the popular local racing talent. Sponsorship support for the weekly racing effort will come from D&S Archery (Barto, PA), Rockland Embroidery, PSE (Precision Shooting Eqpt. of Tucson), Deca Batteries and Christa's Country Creations in Oley, PA (operated by Tracy's wife). "It has been easier to get sponsors this season. We can offer they a lot more benefits and we are running local so that makes it a good marketing tool," said Readinger. Tracy Readinger will be facing some tough competition when Grandview Speedway opens for their 38th consecutive season of NASCAR Modified stock car competition on Saturday, April 1, 5 p.m. Also included in the show will be the Exide Shortrack Late Models and PA Sportsman. Some of the best talents in dirt track racing will be at Grandview Speedway including defending NASCAR Modified champion Terry Meitzler, defending Late Model champion Jeff Teets, Ed Aikin, Jon Kellner, Kerry Kratz, Jeff Strunk, Dennis Bailey, Jack and Kevin Hartnett, Tom Mayberry and a host of others. The Saturday, April 1, 5 p.m. card of racing will include a 38-lap feature for the modifieds that will pay $3000 to win. There will also be action of the Exide Shortrack Late Models and PA Sportsman. In fact it will be tripleheader shows starting at 5 p.m. on Saturday all throughout the month of April.
