SOUTH BOSTON, VA (FEB. 10, 2003)-- The cars haven't taken to the track yet, but Big Daddy's South Boston Speedway is already attracting some of the region's best Late Model Stock drivers. Nick Woodward, the 2000 South Boston track champion, recently announced his intentions to compete on a limited basis at Big Daddy's South Boston Speedway this season.

Woodward will compete in 15 Late Model races this season in the Romeo Guest Construction Chevrolet for Long Brothers Racing. He will divide his time among five tracks in the region, with one of those five tracks being South Boston. The 2000 NASCAR Weekly Racing Series Atlantic Seaboard Region champion has driven for Robert and Charlie Long's Apex, N.C., team since 2001, competing in the NASCAR Busch Series, the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series presented by Dodge.

The first race on Woodward's 2003 Late Model schedule is the March 15 Spring Fling 300 at Big Daddy's South Boston Speedway. Woodward and the rest of the Late Model field will chase victory in the Spring Fling twin 150-lap events, with each race worth $5,000 to win. Should a driver win both races, he will receive an additional $5,000, making a Spring Fling sweep worth $15,000. The first twin will award double points, which could be crucial by season's end.

Tickets to the Spring Fling 300 are $15 for adult general admission, $25 for reserved and $10 for youth age 10 to 15. Children nine and under are admitted free. Season passes are available until March 1 for $150 per adult and $99 for young adults.

The Spring Fling 300 begins Big Daddy's South Boston Speedway's 46th season of providing affordable family fun.
