ICKLER WINS SECOND STRAIGHT NASCAR WEST RACE
IRWINDALE, Calif. (July 7, 2007) -- Brian Ickler won his second straight race in the NASCAR Grand National Division, West Series when he captured the King Taco 200 at Irwindale Speedway.
Ickler led 147 of the event's 200 laps around the half-mile Irwindale oval and averaged 71.020 mph in the briskly paced event. Still, Ickler didn't get the lead for the final time until there were seven laps remaining in the race.
Former series champion Mike Duncan finished second, less than a second behind the winner. Eric Holmes was third, followed by Jason Patison and Mike David. The starting lineup included 30 cars, culled in qualifying from 34 entries.
Holmes won the pole with a lap averaging 96.644 mph and ran with the leaders all night. It was Holmes that Ickler passed to get the top spot with seven to go.
David maintained his lead in the series driving championship. He leads Duncan 1,373-1,297.
